okay, back in now. i removed the swingarm stickers to clean it up a bit. yanked the chainguard and adjusted my bars back a bit. amazing what little touches like removing those stickers can do to appearance. I'll remove the reflectors on the fork pinch bolts when it isn't so late and chilly. I then measured the seat height- exactly 35" to my surprise. so the '07 has to be higher, there's no way it can't be. someone measure for us on an '06 or '07. the bike is a hard cat to figure out- I say that meaning when you look at it from the side, it almost looks like a mini but then it has the same size wheels as the old KLX. I think it's just the styling that throws me off. it just looks smaller but I can't lay my hand on why I think that. perhaps it's the non-axle leading forks like is on the old KLX and the funky angled fender on the old bike as well as the rack and huge turn signals. everything is like scaled down on the '09- I see there's one on ebay.

 

It looks like the brake line is no longer blocking the dash view...Hadn't someone mentioned that somewhere?

 

not for me...... i dont like it... i really dont like the rear fender, but i do like the rear lights. I bought the klx cause i like how it looked compared to the other models, if i had to buy one now, id probably get something else...

 

The red is ok, but if it looked like this one I would be in line for it.

Since you reminder me, I need to put back on the fork reflectors on my KLX. And since I'm out there, I'll measure the seat height also.

Edit: 06' KLX seat height is 34" (Measured standing straight up at seats lowest crest, no rider, with the tape by the left footpeg.)

 

Congrats on thebike Iowa. I like how the rear spring is white, kinda goes with the bike (even though it'll proly be a b*tch to keepclean!).

 

The seat height will be affected somewhat by the sag adjustment, so even within the same model year you will see variations depending on how the sag and preload are set up.

In setting up the sag properly on my KTM, I went to a stiffer spring and once I got the sag dialed in, it raised my seat height almost an inch. But I'm already used to it so it's not a big deal, except that the bike feels and handles even better now.

For anyone that has not set up their front and rear springs and adjusted their sag for their riding weight, this is a MUST do setup adjustment. I wish I'd have done mine on day one, it makes a big different for the better.

 

Both KLXs have an axle-leading fork. See both fork pics in this thread. This is a non-axle leading fork
