Default phone charging???

I have a klx300. It doesnt have electric start so no battery. Can I charge my phone of the power when its running? I use my phone as a gps (nokia navigator) but it uses a lot of power in gps mode and can go flat after a few hours.

yah, I tapped into a 12v line and run my phone charger for the same thing - HTC Touch Pro running navigation software.. Works fine, never goes dead.

The phone should be an insignificant load on the bike. Even though it draws a lot in relative terms and runs its own batteries down quickly, the power it draws is miniscule in relation to stator output. So tapping off the regulator on the '300 should not be a problem at all.

I don't know the specs on the '300 stator, but I doubt it has a lot of extra capacity, so if you are talking about heated grips or heated vest, that type of gear draws some serious current and would be a no. But cell phones, GPS's, etc, draw in the < 1A range, probably only a few hundred milliamps, so you shouldn't worry about those.
