Default Phone Charger/Power Options

I ran my phone (which doubles as my mapping/GPS unit) dead on a short 2 hour ride yesterday. Not a huge deal as I was in familiar terrain. But it's time to add a power point to my handlebars, to charge the phone when I'm much further out in the boonies later this summer.

A search on here didn't really turn up any recent discussion lately.
For those of your who have added power points on your KLX, care to share what you've done? Pics and part numbers would be awesome.

I run this:

Amazon Amazon

It charges my phone and garmin fine. It must use a cheap transformer with a high quiescent current though because even though it has no LEDs it will drain the battery if I leave it connected. I ran it so the disconnect is right by my fuel shutoff so can easily disconnect it when not in use. It should be able to double as a tender plug at that disconnect, but I'm running a lithium battery and don't put it on a tender.

Thanks you.

And how do you have the female USB fitting setup? ZIp tied to your bars somewhere?

Yes, just a few zip ties to the small crossbar and it's nice and stable.

Mine isn't waterproof but I use the same type of setup. Direct wired to the battery with a fused circuit. Works perfectly.

Double USB and cigarette lighter (includes on/off switch to prevent battery drain) from ebay.
Got one on each bike. Excellent product and inexpensive.

When I connected my 2 usb ports they were direct to the battery, if the bike sat for 3 days it went flat. So I wired them to the headlight and not a drama since. I have one going to my handlebars and one to the saddle bags for charging other stuff like gopro batteries. Both are just zip tied where is convenient.

The on/off switch stops the battery from running down!

Gee, oddly enough that first one posted has a plug in for the battery that looks awful familiar - couldn't also be hooked up to a Battery Tender too, could it? (Rhetorical question)
