Default Patterson Mountain ride - pics & helmet cam

I managed to turn a business trip into a fun trip near Roanoke, VA back in July. Just now getting around to editing some helmet cam video and getting pictures uploaded. Anyway, I got to go riding on a Monday and Tuesday after work with a couple of associates at Patterson Mountain OHV area in Jefferson National Forest, west of Roanoke, VA about 30 minutes. Nice trails with elevation changes, berms, mud, single track, rocks, etc. Not double black diamond stuff but just perfect for unwinding after 8 to 10 hours at work. Monday we rode the south side trails and Tuesday we did the north side and went back and rode some of the south side again.

Here's a link to the helmet cam video from Monday's ride. I uploaded at a small resolution because of the size and length (about 30 min. !) so the quality sucks a bit....but have a look see for yourself (maybe in a couple more weeks I'll get the north side edited and posted)

I didn't take time to get any pictures on the trail. I was in the lead and my riding buddies were eatin' me up. Here are some before and after shots though just for proof of being there:

Nice smooth trails if not for the mud. Good times.

My wife is from near there. We may have to take our machines up there for a quick ride one weekend later this fall. Thanks for posting!

Thanks to all for the "glowing reviews"...

Nobrakes....
Patterson Mountain has about the same number of trail miles as Uwharrie, somewhere in the upper 'teens. They are also similar in lots of ways, but I think Uwharrie is probably a little more difficult because of the the "rocks" and jeep ruts. Patterson Mountain is limited to ATV's and bikes, no jeeps. You would probably be able to cruise along a warp speed....at my age I ride to avoid a side trip to the hospital (which btw was required by one of our group on the Tuesday afternoon ride).

Its 180 miles from my house to our plant in Dalesville (west side of Roanoke on 220) and about another 20 to 30 miles out to Patterson Mountain. Takes about 3-1/2 to the plant.

grafxguy....
Good eye on the footpegs. I modified the stock ones by adding about an extra inch. My motocross boots kept slipping off the stock peg which is no fun sometimes. The only problem I have is catching my shin occasionally when rolling backwards.

Here are some better pics. Maybe someday I'll throw up a post with some more detail on modifying them.
