Opinons on these tie-downs
I recently came across these tie-downs on Amazon and wanted to get your opinions.
The first one appears to use an 8mm hole for mounting. However, it appears the eye-hole on our bikes is 10mm.
This one appears to have a 10mm mounting hole, but a small hole for the tie-down strap hook.
Customer reviews have been positive for both. What ya think?

I use these. Ancra Soft Hook
I like what your thinking, I would just trust the soft hook more than a solid one, but that's me.

Although those solid mounts look like they would be just fine I'm like Maxi-pad(couldn't resist) and I use the soft ties when a canyon dancer on the bars isn't an option. I slip them around the forks above the bottom triple. Another benefit is that I can use them on all of my bikes.

The thing I really like is you can stow the straps easily and use them to help lug the bike out of a mud pit, for instance.
But for simplicity in tying the bike down that's a great idea.
They would be nice to have on the bike when it's jacked up in the air and I need to strap it down.
Are you going to put some on the back of the bike too?
No worries GB, I've got thick skin and a sense of humor.

Soft hooks (we called them soft ties). They're strong enough for one to pull a car. They can be transferred from one bike to another quite easily.
And best of all, one less chunk of metal to gouge something - like me.
Besides they're lower priced to boot.

Use the straps around the fork tube just above the lower triple clamp. Nothing will bend, they do fit, and it actually offers good triangulation, being lower and further inward than using the bars.

I realized changing the strap location or using these mounts would cause the straps to rub on the plastics. See, I'm using a hitch mount in which the straps are being brought back against the bike down to around the foot rests as opposed to wide and on the sides like in a trailer. So I might look for a better tie-up solution from the bars. Like this...

Yeah, I have the same issue with my hitch rack. I usually put a rag in between and call it good. My plastics are far from new, yet intact (well, accept for the turkey/fender/replacement incident) so I don't worry about it. You have that nice camo wrap to keep intact.
Canyon Dancer's are nice. Someone transported my Ducati with those.
Talk about worrying about the bodywork...handmade fiberglass with Ferrari red paint. Not cheap to fix. DAMHIK!
