CARB - I also drilled out the little plug over the pilot air mixture screw. The EPA doesn't want you to change that screw's position but it needs to be backed out. Mine was set at 1.5 turns out from the factory. It's at 2.5 turns out now. This reduces lean popping (popping on sudden decel).
is this where that little buger is hidding? or is it in the the carb?

No, and No. It's on the bottom of the carb. Next to the float bowl (cover on the bottom). NOT the brass one, but the soft silver plug. Search through some of the other posts, namely the one called "OPENING UP THE KLX" ... I think there a picture in there.

Just wanted to thank you guys for all of the info you are sharing!!! Good job! Bought my Greenie two weeks ago after lurking for a couple of weeks. Thanks to your posts it was an easy decision to make! Lovin' it! Doing the carb & snorkel mod ASAP! Thanks again

P.S. One quick question. Do I HAVE to drill the muffler with the carb mod?

New to klx250. I live at 7500 feet, any ideas on what exhaust to use and how to re-jet the carb. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Welcome, and someone here that knows more about altitudes and jetting will be on shortly, sorry I'm a noob coming off a 15+ year absence from anything with two wheels. I do know that my bike which has the 40 and 132 jets with the air box lid off loses power and coughs a little when getting up close to 4,000. I live at 100 feet. 10 miles from the big blue. good luck oh and tell us where you are and maybe what you do for work.

In regard to post 14 of this thread, the embedded pictures do not show up. Does anyone know where I can see these photos of the air valve port locations?

thanks - Donnie

I live in Flagstaff AZ. I'm a PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) nurse at the local hospital. Also before you did the mods did you notice any pinging around 3000-3500 rpm because i'm not sure if its something vibratiing or the engine pinging, if its pinging i'm going to have a little trouble following the break-in.
