One lump or two
After watching the Dunlop tire removal link Punkenduro9 put up a little while ago I've decided it's time to swap out the rear tire. It's an OEM D705, and after 2900 miles it doesn't owe me a thing. Tad smooth in the middle now for my taste.
I not asking for brand recommendations - there are PLENTY of tire threads here (almost as many as exhaust threads) - as I've pretty much settled on the D706 as a good compromise for my type of riding.
My question regards the front tire. My eyeball tells me there is probably better than 60% tread depth on the front, and I can't see throwing away something that's still quite servicable. Seems to me that for my type of riding (70/30 street or thereabouts) I'll probably burn up 2 rear tires for every front one. The bike is an '07, garage kept. I don't think dry rot on the front would be an issue before it wears out. Since the tires are the most important link to road I wouldn't want to end up in a ditch a year from now because I was too cheap to do both at the same time.
What do the rest of you guys do? Would sure like to take the extra $$$ the front would cost and get a decent set of spoons and some HD tubes.

If the front tire is in good shape, just replace the rear one only then.
My tire replacement is opposite to yours. My front tire is going bald faster than the rear tire. But I'm going ahead with replacing both tires.
