Well actually the Blackberry is my cell phone. In fact its my everything, my brain if you will. Not only is it a Verizon Cell Phone, but I also get work and home e-mails on it. Full internet access, along with Outlook calendar syncing all wirelessly. And best of all the University of Washington is paying for the whole thing. Here is a link to the Blackberry 7250, and a picture.

Its great for reminding you to do important stuff, like wash your bike, or make sure all of your pens and pencils are at a 22.5 degree angle on your desk............did I say that out loud?

So I got the GPS file today, and had our GIS/GPS tech at work looking into it, and I gotta tell you for the trouble it seems to be getting this thing to usable information for the end user, I would rather get lost. So I think we should just get the maps and instructions, and go for it. Also my coffee pot is set to auto, I can't seem to shut it off. I am going to order a bike mount for the Magellan GPS's we have at work, since I can use one of the 5 anytime I want. But I can't seem to get it together for this ride. But someday I will be able to use it.

What model GPS is it, deej? I just recently bought a Garmin GPSMAP 276C. I like it a lot - its great. I've been out exploring many many times after studying Google maps on-line. Inevitably, reality on the ground is a bit different than on-line. Having maps with plotted location right there on the handlebar is great. Here's a shot of the screen below. I'd been out bushwhacking along a ridge - no trail here, but at least with the GPS there's little chance I'll get turned around and not know which way the road is. In this case, I just kept going straight and eventually came out on pavement. BTW, during this ride bushwhacking through the woods and navigating over fallen trees, etc, is the first time my high temperature warning light ever came on. At least I know it works now.

...

Edit: pic no longer works
