OK, it's for sale again....
I have decided to try and sell my KLX since I want a more powerful from the crate bike. I'm looking at a 2007 Husqvarna TE250. It's 100% dot legal, but much different than the KLX- it makes 38 horse. Anyways, my KLX has 530 miles on it and besides the modded rear subfender (looks so much better) it looks brand new. It is being sold with all the mods listed below and ready to ride. It rips pretty good for this bike. The new chain and sprocket on back have less than 20 miles on them. All stock parts are going as well. But here's the clincher I believe- I will include the 300 cylinder I bought a couple weeks ago I was planning on boring to 331, plus I will throw in my brand new HJC AC-X3 MX helmet that matches the bike. It is the MC-4 if you click on the below link. The bike has warranty until April 2007. I believe this is a pretty good deal myself. If you know of anyone looking for a bike, have them email me at tbunder@netzero.net. The bike is in Des Moines Iowa 50320.

38 horsepower out of a 4stroke 250? says who? the factory? sure and they get the weight of their bikes right too... i wouldn't believe it unless i was in the room and watched the dyno being done..not to burst your bubble but that just doesn't sound right.

If your going for the extra horses, why not get even more for 5 extra pounds of weight? (and still well under the KLX dry weight of 168 LBS)

Most 450s that are put on the dyno only make that kind of power. I am sure that is at the crank and not a the rear wheel. It is more powerful and weighs less than the KLX but not 2 timesthe power. If you are making a move for more power you need to go for the 450. Don't wast your time with a little more power.

It makes people feel better about their buy to quote power at the countershaft. On a dyno, you will see a result somewhere near 30hp from that bike.

yes, i know it's at the crank. but that's nearly twice as much as the KLX makes. and fyi, a stock 450 KX450F makes around 50 horse. the husky will have as much power as any 250 4-stroke MX bike and maybe more. plus it is geared really low and has tons of torque. don't try and bring me down with this, the husky is not a beginner bike like the KLX. I don't need a 450 as I am just a little guy and can probably make the 250 faster than a larger guy on a 450. I got my horsepower numbers from a guy that won an enduro championship in Illinois on a TE250. He talks as if he knows the bike inside and out. Anyways, getting back to the main point of the post- my bike is for sale and for a pretty good deal as well. here's an interesting discussion regarding horsepower of dirt bikes on a forum like this one:

In researching for my next bike, I've also heard some really good things about the CRF450X. Even aside from extra smooth linear power, I've heard it also has seperate transmission / clutch oil from the engine oil. I wish more bikes would do that. But not being street legal out of the box is the kicker for me on that bike. Not sure if that makes a difference for you or not.
I'm sure you'll love the TE250, though. How could one not??? Good luck.

nobrakes-
thanks for your insight. after reading and being easily coerced into another channel in my open mind, i am now actually considering getting the 450 as it's only $700 more, looks the same 'cept for larger rear tire, 41mm FCR, larger forks, etc. I have been reading husky forums for hours and found out the 250 needs to be revved to get its power even more so than our KLX's. i think I need the lazy power of the 450 which btw i found out makes 5 horse more than the CRF-X and more power than the comparable KTM, and some other bike. i guess dirt bike magazine had a shootout last year and the husky 450 pretty much killed everything else in the engine dept and while doing that is supposed to be the easiest to work on mechanically. don't know how devoted you are to the ktm's, but you gotta admit they don't look as sweet as the new husky's. plusthe husky's arecheaper.
