Default RE: Oil filters available at Wal-Mart

Hey Chris, I had wrtten this bit of info down some time ago for future use. Don't remember which forum or thread I attained this info from but it is on paper in my desk drawer. Can't go by memory alone anymore.
Cross reference for filters: FRAM-CH6015
NAPA GOLD - 4944
PUROLATOR - ML16815
WIX - 24944
Oil needs to belabeled "4 Stroke motorcycle oil". I know everyone knows this... but I thought I would throw that out there just in case.

Hope it helps!

Personally, from my car experience and my dad being a mechanic for his whole life, if you change your oil enough... as in dont let it get like sludge or looking like diesel oil.... your not really gonna notice anything with a "better" oil filter. If you dont change your oil enough and tend to let it go longer leaving the pollutants in the oil.. thats when the oil filter has to work harder..... and if your gonna have long distances between oil changes, i can even tell you some oil that you shouldnt use(for your car), but if you change it often(when your supposed to) any oil will be ok

I buy my oil filters from a motorcycle racing shop, they are HIFLO brand...

Fram was considered bad due to the design of the filter, where other companies use metal backing plates, fram used paper. However, our filters from Fram are exactly the same as OEM, metal backing plates front and rear, samke rubber grommets, etc, they even have the same markings on them, how do we know the Kawi OEM is not made by Fram? As far as I am concerned, unless I am going to order by bulk, it makes no sense ordering on line when I can grab a filter at Wal-Mart (or my wife can) for $5 as needed. Still far cheaper than going to the dealer, which is further away, costs almost three times as much and doesn't include a replacement o-ring.

Just my two cents worth.

Good point, I haven't looked at the Fram yet. I'm going to stop by Wal-Mart and pick one up to compare with the Kawi filter.

Aside from Fram...do any of these others include the o-ring too?

O-rings are never a problem...until they are a problem and you are sitting there with one leaking and no spare...[:@]
