This method works perfectly. No extra grease, no trouble of the spring falling out. Once I have done that method, no more problems with oil filter changes.

Ahhhh yes....the dreaded spring issue. Well a dab of grease works for me, some as mentioned have stretched the spring to sort of stay there, I really think Kawasaki dropped the ball on this one.
