RE: Oil Filter frustrations............and stupidness.......
I too wish you had taken some pictures. I've been using the Purolator filters for quite some time now.

No, I'm not putting it in wrong. I'm just a little brighter than a 5 watt light bulb. I have in my possesion the original filter, the fram, and the carquest ones. I will take pics this evening and post them. You guys are just trying to make me go insane huh? LOL!

I have used K&N and Fram and both fit just the same as the OEM filter.
I'll refrain from posting my income though as I see no direct correlation between IQ and $.

Pics are worth a thousand words, or at least the cost of OEM Kawasaki filters. Take a look, it explains it perfectly. I'll refrain in the future from commenting on my income. I'm sure there are a lot of you who make plenty more (or less), but indeed is irrelevant. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I was merely trying to sayI know how to do this stuff, as I've been turning wrenches for twenty years. I'd like to know why mine is different than those of you who are using these filters. Now that I have these measurements, I'll be opening a lot of boxes to check them at the store first before buying it on my next oil change.

I washed my bike today as well, and the wife's bike and the Camry, then I installed 3 outside motion lights on a friends garage. Then went to another friends house and mounted a 42 plasma TV on the wall. In all of that I didn't fall down, sorry man.

Why am I not suprised?
zapitbullseye,
Very nice work with the photos and all and I understand what you are saying however when I push an aftermarket filter (on my bike) onto the oil cover and then slip the cover/filter into housing it slides together easily and I don't think (although I haven't measured) that the filter even makes contact with the rear spring locators that protrude. The business end of these filters is at the opposite end with the only job of the spring being to keep the filter unit seated.
BTW, no offense taken, didn't you see my smiley guy? I knew the point that you were making.
