Oil Change Issue
Hello,
Great forum!
I recently bought an '09 klx250 and changed the oil last night. The bike has 750 miles on it. The spring was between the filter and cover plate. I put it back the same way as I thought that was how it was supposed to be. I read up on it more today and realized it is wrong.
When I drained the oil last night it seemed milky and I thought it was odd. It made sense when now that I see the filter was in wrong. I plan to fix the spring tonight, run it for a bit and then change the filter and oil again.
I have to figure the oil was changed by the previous owner at 500 miles so there weren't many miles ridden with the filter in wrong. Do you think there is any major damage done?
Thanks
John

If the spring was between the filter and cover plate, i'm guessing the whole filter was around the wrong way? That would cause some issues with the oil flow, but if there's not a huge amount of miles between changes, it shouldn't have too much of an impact on the engine?
