Not sure if it matters on the bikes, but I changed to Amsoil before the break in on a dodge durango. the engine never "settled" and the oil would get sooty real fast with what I suspect was exhaust residue. IMO I would break her in at last past the 500 miles before switching. My KLX is finally broke in (changed at 150, and 600). will change to amsoil on next round. I do not think that approach hurts anything.
BTW, are the clutches OK with the synths? I had an older DT that would slip with synths....

As long as it has JASO on the bottle it's OK for wet clutch's.

Probably more to do with it being a Dodge and less to do with breaking-it in on synthetic oil.
Most performance cars come factory filled with synthetic oil.

Is the oil filter behind the cap on the left side or right side of the engine?

cool thanks WestOZ. I'll be changing my oil for the first time on Saturday and don't have a manual for this bike. This helps cut down my time unbolting stuff only to find out I opened something I shouldn't have. Got my $5 filter and a couple of qts of M120W50.

Ive always used Rotella-T , or Chevron Delo 400HD , 15-40 diesel oils (without friction modifiers) in every bike Ive ever owned with good results and have saved a small fortune, but thats just my personal opinion. I never use synthetics in any air cooled engines, like my Harleys or VW's. I know, Im wierd.
