I put some Shinko 244's on this weekend and like them so far. I went with a 3.00 x 17 front and 5.10 x 17 rear. The tires hook up on gravel/dirt roads and grip suprizingly well on pavement.

That looks like fun, those are some cheap tires. Why did you use the 5.10 over the 4.60 in the rear?

When I was looking around online, I found a conversion chart that gave a formula for figuring tires for different rim widths. I thought the 4.60 might be a tad to narrow on the 4" rim. The 5.10 fits perfectly, and I don't see/feel any adverse affects from it.

Running the same tire in the rear on my bike right now and I really like it. Last year I ran a dunlop606 in a 130/70-17 and it wore out to fast. I think I will swap the front soon.

hey do you guy find it hard to find a balance in having tires that are good for off road but still durable and good on the road. my last set i got were for 50/50 i found them great for on the road and ok on gravel but as soon as got on the farm in some mud or grass just had no grip. now i got 40/60 to dirt and they ok in the mud and off road but are just wearing out way to fast on road. i ride to work 5 days a week and ride at the farm most weekends. but dont really wana have to change tires between the two. has any one know of any tires that suit both that they have tried or am i asking to much.

I'd love to find a set of wheels... I have an S but want a set of wheels for street tires.. can be either S or SF, don't really care as long as the price is reasonable. I'm Northern Nevada.

Here's my 2009 KLX250SF after I added the new 21/18" off-road wheels from Woody's Wheel Works. These wheels use: black Excel rims, heavy-duty stainless spokes and nipples, Neutech TUbliss high pressure tubes and Continental TKC-80 tires. Since this picture was taken, I have added a new 3 gal IMS fuel tank. The bike is currently up for sale, as I'm looking to buy something a little bigger for touring.

You may notice that the bike no longer has turnsignals. The rear uses a intergal circuit board from 12 O'clock labs and a DRG taillight. The front signals are now located in the mirrors. It also has a rear rack, extra tools, DRG pivot levers, Superbike gel grips, Moose Racing aluminum handlebars, FMF Megabomb header and an FMF Q4 muffler.
