Hey, whether it's narrow band or wide band, I think your little experiment is just what we all needed to hear!
Now, as I was reading your comment, I just had a visual. We'll all alter our airbox lids - make the opening like the way Yoshimura suggested to Tremor38, put some wire over it and then use Duct Tape to fine tune the air/fuel ratio.
As long as we're running carbs on our bikes, "CLOSE" is all we can hope for!

Congrats on getting closer to perfection!!
With the jetting you have in it now how does it compare to your your old CVK in the midrange? I remember you said the FCR was coming up a bit short in that area.
Do you think you have room to lean it out a bit more? Maybe a quick run without the lid to give you an idea?

I think it is probably similar to what the CVK felt like in the mid-range, but I don't have much time on the bike with the new settings yet. I may be able to get some more seat time in this weekend though and I'll better be able to tell then. The properly dialed in CVK was no slouch, though. It just didn't have that punch that the FCR has when you crack the throttle. I still may need to fine tune a bit, but I hope not. [&:]

Dangit! I need to enter the witness protection program or something
BTW, I now have an LCD display connected to get the actual voltage readout. The LEDs were cool to look at, but the LCD panel display is much more precise.

After seeing the video with the bungee cords and all, I was getting a little worried. Sure, I was joking before about your next mod being the "Mr. Fusion Home Reactor", but the similarities are starting to become more apparent!!!

Oh, the bungee cords are still there, I hate to say. But I'll work something out. Building a working prototype has never been my problem - make it look nice, well, that's another story entirely. That's why I like software, all the good stuff is hidden from sight.

Here is version 2. The display output is the raw sensor voltage. The LCD panel is a lot easier than the LED bar. My readings range from 0.82 to 0.92 volts. At WOT it's usually at around 0.90 to 0.92 or so. At lower to mid-range throttle positions it ranges in the 0.82 to 0.89 range. Highway cruise in 6th gear at around 55 to 60 MPH it was reading around 0.86. I think it is pretty close now. Before I made any changes it must have been running much richer since the current results are after dropping the jet sizes by 10 from 155/55 to 145/45. One thing I might try is to bump the jets up a few sizes to maybe 148/48 and pull the airbox lid and see what that does.
