Northeast Ohio trail riding.

I know how you feel. Wish I could get some off road riding in here. There is just no where to ride but on the roads.

There used to be a lot of riding over in the Wellsville area just south of East Liverpool. I think the place was called the Pits. Even rail buggies ran there. I don't know if it still is open or not. People used to go over there for weekends enmass. I taught in Wellsville and when I was on my way home Friday I'd see trucks, Jeeps, trucks with trailers carrying bikes, ATVs, and rail buggies going to Wellsville.
Other than that, the only other place I know of for sure is the Wayne National forrest a long haul from the North Coast. It's down in Nelsonville near Athens (Ohio University) and there's no really easy way to get there in a car. The fastest is all the way to Marietta, then up in a northeast direction to 33. Trails that are legal and clear though. Varying difficulties and maps to boot. Get an ATV tag to ride there. If your bike is a dual sport you can have a fun ride down if you run dual sport tires other than knobbies, then there are a few places in town that sell a temp sticker. We went to some gas station place. We did a back pack creditcard camping trip riding 93 to Zanesville then catching 555 to 78 and into Nelsonville. We then rode some of the easier well groomed trails for a few hours. Went to Marietta and stayed, having a decent meal and some good brews at a microbrewery/restaurant in town. Took a growler of Scotish ale back to the motel, sat out "on the veranda" with the growler on ice, plastic cups to partake of the ale, and some good cigars.
