I had the same problem when it was below 40 degrees and I pulled the bike into the garage and placed a small space heater near the engine to warm it up. Waited about ten minutes and then it cranked right up. Seems to be cold natured. Not nearly as bad as my Honda XR400. I kicked it about 100 times today before it would start.

hah, i know what you mean with the xr. my 250 takes forever w/o the drain trick. when it stalls on the trails you'll hear every 4letter word in the book if youre within a mile of me. ******* take forever, but i found a trick....

swing the kicker at the bottom 1/5 of the swing with the throttle open, kick it once fully with the choke on, kick it with no choke or throttle. should only take 2 more at that point

Listen to these guys! It took me forever to start mine until i started draining the carb bowl. Now im just cutting the petcock off letting it die on its on(instead of draining the bowl everytime). Mine fired right up at 40 some degrees today and did the other night at 20 something fine.

HeyheyheyDudes...
Got 'er started. Draining the float bowl worked.
Any one else notice thier revs varying from 2k to 5k. I laced the fuel w/carb cleaner so that might be it. But I noticed the trouble riding last fall in heavy rain.(barely made it home) I had to keep the revs real high to avoid stalling.
Thanks for all your input.
Anyone know of a GOOD maintenence manual for an 07 KLX250?

I'd ask everyone to ride safely but what's the fun in that.
P.S What plug gap are u using?

the routine i used to use was........ pull the decompresion lever. no throttle at all.... kick it slowly 5-10 times to clear the cylinder.... release the decompresion lever... get the piston to the top by kicking it slowly(you'll feel the compresion when it's up there)..... go full with the throttle and kick it like you hate it.

if it doesn't start do the entire routine again. once i read about this and used it it worked everytime.
