Nikasil vs Steel Lined Cylinders
#11
The only real difference in the Bill Blue vs KustomKraft is that KustomKraft uses a brand new 300cc jug which does not have to be bored as far.
That is also the reason it is 800.00 as the 300cc jug is 400.00. You can buy your own jug and send it to them and they will bore and re-nikasil it. It does not have to be in the best shape for them to use it.
The KK big bore is not sleeved. Pick your poison. Not having to bore into the water jackets is a good thing.
Bill blue is way cheaper though.. He does good work and is extremely helpfull.

Wonder how each one will affect resale value. We'll find out in 5 years.
Bill Blue supposedly wil supply you with a cylinder for $100. I guess this way you can keep your old one and use one that he has instead. If things get dicey in the future, you always have your old cylinder. I might go this route.
If I plan on "future proofing" my bike, and plan on getting a KK or BB kit in the future, should I just go ahead and buy a full KLX300 exhaust now? Or does it not matter if you run a full KLX250 exhaust on a BB or KK kit?
Hope that last question made sense.

I would not run a KLX 250S muffler at all. Get a OEM KLX 300 one with no butt plug or a slip on. Get an oversize headlipe if budget allows, after the muffler. If you use any 300 muffler you need a stock or after market 300 headpipe. If you get a 250S slip on you can use your stock header if you wanted.

Come on, you guys are off-base here....in five years your klx will be worth the going rate for a used trail bike ...... say 2k, Resale value...lol....if you are thinking about that you picked the wrong hobbie,,,,,cept for Iowa, he can manage to rack no miles on his bike and sell it for close what he paid.....but what is the point???

+1, this bike will depreciate by boatloads no matter what you do to it. If you want low depreciation, get a Harley or BMW.
LOL on 'cept for.'
