going form the stock 14 tooth to a 13 tooth sprocket will get you onto the power sooner. so it feels like the bike has more torque. it doesn't. your just getting to the meat of the power sooner . going larger in the rear does the same thing just in smaller doses because their are more teeth on the rear. 3 to 1 is usually how it goes. 3 teeth in the rear is the same as 1 teeth (tooth) in the front. i tried a 13 tooth front and it did work but i wanted more torque down low for the wood. i then put a stock kdx 20047 tooth rear on with the 13 front. worked ok but i had to shift way too often because the bike rev'd outthat much quicker. i put the 14 front back on and everything works good. good torque down low without pounding on the shift lever so much. hope this helps.

you do know lowering the gearing also lowers the top speed right? your looking for torque so this shouldn't be an issue but i thought i should mention it. also going with a larger rear sprocket you will need a longer chain.

Well, that is only in theory. I did a test with the stock 14 and a 13 front. The bike went faster with the 13. The reason was because the KLX does not have enough power to pull the 6th gear. When you go to the 13 you have better power in 6th gear.
