Newbie...
Hello all!,
I've been checking things around here for a week now. I was planning a Klx in my garage and did bought it tonight and will pick it up tomorrow morning. A 2006 with 2500 km on the clock. Can't wait to beging mod on it. I've seen many interesting post here that will help me building the bike to my need. Some of my previous big ride where a 2003 Ktm 640 Enduro, bike that I totaled in an accident a year and a half ago (not my fault..it was the tourist in the car...), and a Xr650L...that is for sale. So I was telling to myself that instead of having a big heavy slow bike (Xrl) I would be better to have a small light nimble one instead. I just hope that I will not regret my move to the Kawi familly. My last Kawasaki was a 1979 Km100...and the only time I did not have trouble with it was when I was not riding it...[:@]
So my future plan for the klx will be:
-a full exhaust line, and if you know witch one is the quietest after market one please telle me!
-A 300cc upgrade with a wiseco instead of the stock kawi 300cc piston.
-All carb mod and jetting required.
-Bigger tank, not decided yet if I will pick the Clarke, Ims or try to find a Acerbis one...Tell me your preference please in your choices.
-Skid plade
-Handguard with aluminum bar in it
-Pro Taper handlebars and maybe some riser...
After that I think that I will have a decent Klx for the tight stuff around. Can't wait to try the bike. I did rode a bone stock one once for about a 1000'...So I was not really impress comin down the 640...But I think I will learn to love the bike.

RE: Newbie...
the Q4 is most likely the quietest pipe you'll find. the rest of the stuff is all personnel preference. i usually get the cheapest (least expensive) that i can find. so none of my stuff matches.

I did the exact same thing, do miss my XRL on the road sometimes.

that smy setup too

Yep

get the clark, its still the best of the rest
-Skid plade
wise
-Handguard with aluminum bar in it

I did rode a bone stock one once for about a 1000'
I swear I ran mine stock even less..litterally from the showroom to my truck outside. Then I put on a 300 pipe & rejetted before i rode it again

RE: Newbie...
I have a 2007 klx250s- here is what i"ve done
RIM locks, add them if you do not want a flat!!!!
all free mods-13 t counter shaft- air box lid removed- dyno jet kit- crank case vent.
fourstroke works header and muffler- good power increase but louder than I would have liked even with quite tip.
I have the clark tank- with the stock tank I would hit reserve around 44 miles on hard single track- the extra gallon is great.
fourstoke works front break line protector.
mit- ac10 tires front and rear- in the sand of the pine barrens they are great. also DOT.
pro taper bars.
Lots of luckwith the bike -its alot of fun

RE: Newbie...
Welcome to the forum. Imo the acerbis is uglyist tank you could possibly put on the bike. If you want a little less than a gallon more with a no hassle install get the clarke. You can also get about the same capacity as the clarke with a stock klx300 tank, you will have to use the 300 shrouds though and you may have to do away with the cooling fan. If you want the most fuel you can carry get the IMS, there are mods you have to do to get it to fit though.
If you are going to be taking it offroad ditch the stock tires-they suck.

RE: Newbie...
Thanks all for the welcome!
I did pick the bike up today. Did over 6h of road to get it. I had found only 2 used one for sale in the entire province. first one I try to called (nearest from me) was sold about 6h before I called. So I called the second one and bought it. The guy was nice cause he did tow the bike in is trailer and did 2h of road towards me. So insted of doing only 10h to go and come back I only did 6...
So I did installed the battery in it once at home and started the thing. Was about -7 celcius. It did start but man the thing is lean. Header came bright red in no time and after a few minutes and the white plastic cover over the pipe was so hot that it got really soft to the melting point so I put snow on it to keep it from melting. When the weather warm up and spring arrive I will start to tear the bike and begin modifications. It cant run with the stock setup. Too lean and Way too much restriction.
