Default New Tires

I just put on a set of new Shinko 244 tires on the KLX 250s. The front tire is 3.00-21 and the rear is 5.10-18. I have not had a chance to really try them out yet. Since I went with a larger rear tire, what can I expect in regards handling and performance on and offroad? The rear tire looks a lot beefer than the stock tire and seems to have added some ride height.

There will be variables on what you can expect on a bigger rear tire. Acceleration on a KLX will be a bit more sluggish. RPM will drop a little bit as compared to speed. Steering could be a little quicker with the small increase in ride height at the back. Turning the bike into a corner at the initial movement, however, might actually be a bit slower or more sluggish. Some of this could be affected more or less by the tread pattern. You might get a benefit in mud or sand. These are the main issues that come to mind.

I tend to ride in areas with a lot of sand and I am tired of digging holes. I guess that I will try the tire for a bit and if it does not workout, then I will go with the 4.60-18. The Shinko tires are really priced cheap enough.

(Shinko's have a Yokohama pedigree. A lot of tire for the money.)

i have run tons of tires on mine and by far the two best dot's for a lot of dirt are the pirelli or the Michelin ac10 but that's a tire that suits how i ride. if you are in the sand and can keep moving these work well(NOT DOT)Kenda K775 Parker Desert Terrain Rear Tire - Dirt Bike Motocross - Motorcycle Superstore
