Default New tire on order...

The road really did a number on my stock rear tire. Gone in under 3k miles. :'-(

So, I ordered a new rear tire last night, along with a heavy-duty tube. The Kenda K760 Trakmaster II got pretty good reviews, so that's what I went with. I got the 100/100-18.

Does anybody here have first-hand experience with this tire on the KLX250s?

My stock tire was done at 2500
I got a K270 and it's almost done at 1500 miles.. may make it to 2000.
I don't think the trackmaster is gonna last for many miles on the rear.
I got one on tap for a front tire. I may go with the K270 Shinko clone for the rear this time

I REALLY like the Trakmaster on the front of my KLX. I've run the stock tire, a Dunlop 606, and now a Kenda 270 on the rear. I've liked the K270 best on the rear. It hooks up nicely in the Monte Cristo terrain, and is relatively smooth on the pavement that I have to ride on to get to MC and back. I prefer the rear to have a bit less traction than the front, so I can more easily slide the rear out through corners, to help with steering, if need be. I imagine the Trakmaster on the rear will REALLY get good traction in that terrain, so, as long as your front gets good traction, you'll be set. However, if you still have a stock front tire, you may be pushing the front end in corners...which you won't like! I'd match the front with another Trakmaster, if it were me.

Good luck with your new tm2. Mine only lasted 1000 miles and the center knobbies are gone. I ride 99% trails.

I REALLY don't like how the stock D605 pushes through the turns, especially on loose gravel (like on Ant Flat Road)! I hate to spend the $ replacing a front tire that is nowhere near worn out, but I just may have to.

Most of us had to.... me included. That tire sucked.. The dunlop 606 started doing the same thing on me.

In my book: it's better to wear it out on 1000 miles of trails, than 2000 miles of street.
I'd be smiling the whole way!!!

I'm a big fan of the TMII. I just put a fresh rear tire on my KLX. The front is only down to about half so it'll go a while longer before I change it. The first rear was done in about 1500 miles of about 70% pavement, 30% dirt, maybe closer to 65/35.

But for as cheap as they are, they do a good job. And you can't help but get better at swapping tires.
