new tire
just put on a pirelli MT21 140/80-18 it was 70 bucks and i got it at the dealership, was gonna get another kenda 270 but was told it had to be backordered and the pirelli was there already so i took it. the tire looks huge on the bike because of the ***** going close to the sidewall. the first time i rode it and turned with that tire i thought it was rubbing on the chain or something because it felt very rough but nope it was just the knobbies. riding straight up seems normal. this tire looks like it will last quite awhile though. the kenda 270 is a tire that i love until something beats it out, it lasted me 5800 miles which to me seemed like a bargain. well see about the pirelli.

RE: new tire
I just bought my Kenda 270's at Rocky Mountain ATV they had them in stock . The front was $28.99 and the rear was $34.99 I think a 510x18 seem to be great tires so far Time will tell but you can't beat the price

RE: new tire
has anyone put on a kenda270 4.50-18, stock size is 4.60-18. I see that most people are using the 5.10 rear . is there a big difference between the two? It seems like the 4.50 would be a closer fit to stock. I will need tires soon enough and iam starting to do some research.

RE: new tire
Calisaki,
The "roughness" you are feeling is due to the huge knobbies on the tire. I have them on my KLR250 and when you lean the bike into a turn, you get this feeling that something is wrong.
They work quite well!
Enjoy!

they make the 270 in a 4.60-18 , i just ordered one from rocky mountian atv. the 5.10 will work also, but it is taller and wider and will take a little away in the acceleration dept.

RE: new tire
I just ordered a set of Cheng Shin 858's for the KLX250.
The front is 3.00x21 the rear 4.10x18.
I ordered them from American Motorcycle Tire (AMT) for under $50 for the PAIR!
Also got some heavy duty tubes and rim locks. I'm planning on running low air pressure in them in the sand this year. Don't want to break a tube valve off!
