Hello all!
Just picked up my new '06 klx 250s. I had a Two Brothers slip on M7 installed before I even picked it up. I have to say I'm a bit surprised at it's lack of power. It's light, handles well, sounds decent with the Two Brothers pipe, but isunderpowered. What would be my next best step to make this bike perform better? Thanks for your help.

Hey Doug, welcome to the forums and good choice on your bike. As far as power goes, you can drop the front sprocket down to a 13 tooth (Honda 650) and or raise the back up to a 45 at least. Jetting and opening up the air box really helps, and of course a full exhaust system will also wake the bike up. I see you added a slip-on, I'm not sure if that requires re-jetting or not, and recently I have talked to a few people that say just adding the slip-on will allow you to keep the low end grunt on these bikes. Here is what I did to my bike. Again welcome and let us know how things go with the new toy. Oh and I didn't look up where you live, where is that?

13-45 sprockets from the factory 14-42
Full Muzzy
Jetting 132 and 40
Airbox lid removed

Belle Fourche (French for "beautiful fork") was named by French explorers when this area was owned by France, for the confluence of what is now know as the Belle Fourche and Redwater rivers and Hay Creek. Beaver trappers worked these rivers until the mid 1800's and Belle Fourche became a well-known fur trading rendezvous point. During and after the great gold rush of 1876, farmers and ranchers alike, settled in the fertile valleys, growing food for the miners and their work animals. At the same time the open plains for hundreds of miles in all directions were being filled by huge herds of Texas and Kansas cattle. Towns sprang up to service the ever changing needs of the farmers and ranchers. In 1884, the Marquis de Mores, a French nobleman and contemporary of Theodore Roosevelt, established a stage line between Medora, North Dakota and Deadwood, South Dakota. The Belle Fourche way station included a stage barn and a saloon.[/align]

Interesting history, South Dakota, isn't that where Sturgis is? Have you been there?

swap the slip-on for a full system and jet kit/jet mods/airbox and filter;along with the 13-tooth sprocket, that will transform the bike.

cjoc, If you are dissapointed with a slip on and I assume re-jet.

I wouldrecommend looking at taking the bike back....you get 48 hrs in Florida. The klx may not be for you....seriously.

With $600+ mods you may get her closeto 30 hp but that would be max and about it.....just sayin.

If you decide to keep her....welcome and post a ride report.

show me how to get 30 horse for $600 and I'm all over it. it isn't possible. now if you're talking in addition to what he has already, maybe. he'll need at least 330cc and a full system. and even after that, nobrakes still didn't eclipse the 30 mark. I think 26-28 is more realistic.
