And as usual, you've had to become a "CVK man" in order to get your bike running.

Anyone in your position will have to do the same - study exploded views, read my CVK thread, learn every component, locate every component on their carb, clean and de-clog every component, set float level, precisely reassemble without loosing components, damaging float level, or faulty diaphragm sealing, etc... And hope a previous owner hasn't "fooled with" the carb with oddball parts, drill bits, etc...

Now that you've gained the knowledge, and skills, and found the problem - once the part is in, finish off the last 10% of this project - which can take 90% of the projects' effort.

1. Get every single one of those carb hoses routed correctly.
2. Make sure the diaphragm passes the finger lift test.
3. Make sure the carb is indexed correctly in the intake manifold boot - not tilted left or right but is straight up and down.
4. Make sure the airbox boot is fully sealed around the entire carb bell circumference - this is not easy and is a common mistake.
5. reserved for whatever I've forgotten to list...

I think from now own, I'll start off telling a new owner of an old non-running bike to study the exploded view and check for a needle jet ! lol

I'm pleased to tell you that late this afternoon, in beautiful 4C weather, I went for a short ride on my very smooth running KLX. It was just a test ride, less than 10 minutes, but I could tell as soon as I let the clutch out that all was well. Carburetion felt smooth from just off idle to higher rpms, (didn't take it too high, maybe 7000-ish).

Thanks for your help and patience Klxster, couldn't have done it without you.

Now where did I put Bill Blue's number? Just kiddin', she's staying stock... for now
