New to this! Many questions!
Hello just bought a 2006 KLX250s last Friday. I'm loving it! I have read a lot of post on here but just haven't found what I was looking for. I'm sure it is on here some where. Bone stock $2900 960 miles on it. I have hit 80! I only weigh 150 lbs. Anyway, I was wondering if I should replace the whole exhaust? I was wondering what was up with the muzzy complete or the FMFmegabomb header? If I go with the megabomb I will use the Q4. Thanks for any advice.
I will post pics when I figure it out.

Welcome to the forums...the bike....and the greatest time in your life! Now onto the question. Let me ask you a question. Did you buy the bike hoping you could do 100mph? Because that aint gonna happen no matter what pipe you put on or gears you change. Plus the bike was not really designed to do those speeds...and with your light weight you might just end up being blown off the road by a passing 18 wheeler... If its just for performance I am no longer telling everyone to buy the Full Muzzy System....not because its not the best pipe...I just think everyone is sick of me saying that...LOL Most pipes that all of us have put on regardless of the brand have made huge improvements to the bikes performance.
What are you looking for? More slow low end grunt for trail riding? Or are you looking for highway speeds. Gearing will play a bigger part on that than any exhaust will. The combination that I use and has become a pretty popular one is to go from the stock 14-42 to the better 13-45. This allows you to go slower on the trails with plenty of low end power, and I can still do 60-65 (actual speed is 55-60 according to the GPS) So anyway, make sure you jet the bike at the same time. Its the pipe/jetting combo that really wakes the bike up and really needs to be done together.

Acehol, welcome to the forum, but be warned there are a few acehols on here already
Personally I don't think the headers give you much (if anything) for your money. The aftermarket cans do though. Most of the aftermarket cans will do well. Search around here you'll find plenty of opinions.
For pics open a free account at photobucket.com upload them there and then just copy and paste the IMG link from photobucket into your post here. When the post loads, so will your pic.

Hello! I can't stop riding. I have put 250 miles on my bike in the last 4 days ( working everyday for 8-10hrs. for 29 days ) and I just work 4 miles away from work. 1/4 mile of Highway for me. I'm perfectly happy with 80 because I know it has more. It just takes the wind in your favor and shifting out of 5th at 8 or 9. This is my first bike. I rode a 250 ninja a few times about 15 years ago. I'm a thrill seeker. I try to be smart about it. You can do things if you use your head and try to be aware. I love white water kayaking and snow skiing!
I'm not sure if I should hit the interstate just yet. It has been really windy here during spring. ( Indiana ) Now on the header question, I have just head that a klx300 head works better. What I'm getting is that it's your saying not enough dollar to power ratio? Or not enough to notice?
I'm for sure planning on riding off road! Hopefully a lot! There are some highways not Interstates that I need to take at 65mph. I feel good with the speed. Being pass by a suburban at 55mph for both of us feels fine, even when I getting blown around a little. I was going to by a wr250f and convert it into a street bike. But I wanted something little more road worthy. I would like to crack the throttle and raise it up a little in 2nd. Not sure if it is possible but a boy can dream. I don't want to go over board for sure.
Dan thanks for the info on the photobucket will do!
Deej I have seen a lot of your post and think your bike is pretty sweet! Thanks for all the post you have on here and being very active. I read where I'm supposed to call you the muffler king. Hope its not an offensive name! Peace!

Ok so I dropped 3 times today. 2 times on the trail, and it fell over in the parking lot. Handle bars bent when it fell in the parking lot. I think I need to lower it. I'm 5'5 147. What do you recommend for handle bars? Very bad day today. Oh well, its a dirt bike. Oh yeah busted the rear turn signal too.

I have renthal 971 bars but I ended up adding bar risers which are about the price of the bars so I would recomend high bars. If you are going to lower a lot give John at Motion Pro a call. I had him do some lowering to my GF's bike and was pleased with the work and service. If you are only lowering a small amount the I think lowering links and raising the forks up a little is the way to go.
Also get some barkbusters or something simular. Will save your levers and protect your hands in the bush.
Cheers Jim
