new klx250s owner!
Hi guys-
after lurking a couple of weeks, I dove in and bought a klx250s about a week ago[sm=happybounce.gif]. I used it all week to commute to work, and have ridden it on some easy trails. We have many many miles of dirt roads (some more like jeep trails) around here, so a dual sport seemed like a logical choice. For background, I'm 43 and have been riding 30 years. Last bikes were Buell White Lightning and Yamaha V-Max. So, this is a big step down in power but not in fun. Actually, I think it's more fun, since going fast on either of the last two wasn't much of a challenge, and with the KLX I have to work it harder. And, it's so much lighter! that's sure nice. Really, it feels like a fat version of my mountain bike! Loving it, and planning to do the basic mods described in the forum. Still stock, broken in like the rest of my stuff-ride it like you intend to/mototune method. I thought I'd follow Kawasaki's recommendations, and that lasted about 5 miles, until a pickup full of kids came up fast behind me and rode my bumper...so had to gassit! no power below 4k anyway. You can see in my pics that the Kawi has a slower stablemate with Much lower gearing We have two of those; 1970 Rokon Trailbreakers if you were still guessin'.
Thanks for all the info! this is gonna be fun!

Tony-I'm in Heber Springs, Arkansas! basically a resort town with a big lake, trout river, lots of campgrounds, some trails, and tons of dirt roads and quad trails.

Yep my bike is clean, but I do get it dirty. I have an appointment at the dealer and its like a dentist appointment and you brush your teeth like 5 times. Yesterday I met up with some friends that have quads and they were camping 25 miles out of town on that mountain I went across last week. So I headed over the mountain and they took me across rivers, up quad trails and we had a blast. No pictures, well a few but I look huge in the picture so I'm not posting it I washed the bike today and detailed it. I don't want the dealership to think I treat my bike like a dirt bike LOL.
