New horn is so much better than stock! Duh!?
Just had an impulse buy at the motorcycle distributor, well three impulse buys.
Was looking for a better horn. Settled on the PIAA horn (which they let me hook-up to a battery and test ) because it has a nice BIG 70s car horn sound! The thing carries at 112dB. People will probably wonder where it's coming from, it's so not a motorcycle sounding horn. I mounted it, facing down and back, from the reflector on the left fork tube. It just clears the shrouds. I will have to come up with a better mounting bracket somewhere it fits, that isn't in the direct line of water spray from the wheel. I may extend the harness to find the perfect spot for it.
Also got one of their H4 anti-vibe xtreme white plus bulbs. Seems a lot brighter, haven't tried it on the road yet. And despite being anti-vibe, with a picture of a dirt bike on the package, I have my doubts. I hope I'm wrong and so does my wallet. I do think it will match my headlamp color wise and make a more seamless light system.
And for $19 more(hey it's Christmas), I thought I'd try a 360º LED tail light bulb. It lights up my license plate way better, even leaving a little pool of light behind/below me. And the number of LEDs seems to get amplified by all the reflector facets, but otherwise seems no brighter, but yet more visible?.
Now I'm going to go for a night ride on the packed snowmobile trail up to the height of land! 15" of snow followed by 2" of rain followed by lows in the 10-20º range mean super hard packed snow thanks to all the hard core snowmobilers.
Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Keep that pos bike off the snowmobile trails jackwad !
Those trails are paid for by snowmobilers and are CLOSED to wheeled vehicles in the winter. It's jacks like you that screw up the trails leaving ruts in them which are flat out dangerous for sleds.

Hey Beardoge - before you achieve final orbit, our S/M trails here in Maine are open to anyone who pays the fee to join a S/M club. Four wheelers are more than welcome as long as they pay the fee. No reason MP shouldn't hit the trails as well.
We have enough snow to go around. We get a lot of it, and groom daily.
You ever use an ATV trail in the summer?

Thanks for the back-up DJ
Hey Beardoge, shut your pie hole and FYYFF.
You read all that and that's your post. You must be one of the JACKWADS that runs me off the MULTI-USE trail when I'm skiing.
And at least I don't have to pour gas all over my machine and the road to get it going like so many of the idiots trying to start their sled. You can light the road and snow on fire on a busy day in winter.
I wouldn't ride it if I left a rut. That's why I was excited, because the snow is hard packed enough to drive a car on without screwing it up. It was fun, BTW.
Happy Holidays to all, even the Jackwads!
Now back to my morning coffee and the nice folks on the forum.
Sorry about that.

So I was leaving horseshoes last night on my bike. I was so drunk I thought I was stuck so apparently I was holding it wide open in neutral for about 30 seconds before somebody put it in gear for me. They said it was running real bad and missing so I check for damages this morning hoping it wasn't running 11 grand that whole time and lo and behold when you hold it wide open it runs up to the rev limiter and then falls back to about 5 grand then stays there. LOL who'd thunk.

Thanks for the laugh dan888.
He probably counts leaners in horseshoes too.
Sounds like a future Darwin Award winner.
If I had already had my coffee I might have ignored it, but that was the first thing I saw this morning.
I like the headlight bulb, BTW. 4000 Kelvin, nice white but not blue. The package claims 55/60W is like having a 100/110W light. Not sure about that but it seems I can see better. But I was riding on a snow covered road under a bright moon.

Ya, I am constantly surprised by how whimpy most motorcycle horns are considering how critical they are for rider safety.*
I have only owned 2 bikes which have come with adequate stock horns: BMW & Buell. *Good on you for finding a suitable replacement for the KLX!
