New to the game
Hi,
I've never owned a motorcycle before but at 38 years I've decided to change that. I just bought a used 1996 KLX250 that has been retrofitted to be street legal here in Alberta. I will be reading though here with great interest to see what I can learn. However, a couple of quick questions:
- How similar or different is the 96 KLX250 to the KLX250S or the KLR250?
- Does anyone have a hitch mounted carrier that they would recomend for carrying my KLX on the back of my Land Rover 90 that is fitted with a ClassIII 2" reciever?
Thanks for any help and the good forum

I think they are very similar. The two big difference is that, of course the KLX250S is street legal and the nice upsidedown forks compared to the traditional forks on the '96.

That's awesome man, you'll love riding especially on fire roads and trails. I let a guy ride my bike a couple of weeks ago and he was 6-0 and 340lbs, and he said he could still power the bike pretty well. So have fun, and hopefully you have friends that ride that will keep you safe. Later man.

Well I've had a really good poke around the bike and discovered that it is a KLX250D model. Tighened some loose front calipur bolt to. I like it, need to take my Motorcycle drivers test in a couple of days.
