What exactly are you worried about getting in there? Pine needles and cones? Butterflies and bees? Just messing man, but really the filter will keep everything out and your seat is close enough to keep bigger items from ever getting in there in the first place.

Gnomes man...we got these gnomes in the yard, they get EVERYWHERE!

heh...but seriously I do notice ants crawling around on my bike sometimes. Little, tiny, fire ants. That's the last thing I need crawling on me at 70mph.

Should I be worried about ants crawling on my bike? Could they get into anything? I mean I'd think they'd just fly off or bake on once the bike starts up. I think I will clear out the area where I park by taking off the first inch or so of soil, then nuking the whole ground area with some of that 6 month bug spray from Home Depot.

I have a question related...if I just remove my airbox cover for now without doing anything else, 1) will I see some improvement? 2) or, do I have to do other mods like rejet, etc?

Removing the air box lid by itself may help with airflow, and if you are worried about the loud sucking noise from the intake, just get a Muzzy and it will cover over that noise.

The KLX-300 full exhaust system for <$100 is a great alternative to the more expensive options. I really like mine because it was easy on the wallet and gave me most of what a ~$500 system would. I do probably carry a little extra weight up high but, I could just as easily go on a diet or put fewer things in my backpack.

Where can someone get a 300 system? And how about a pic of it?

Thank you everyone for your input. It has helped a lot. I am going to see how well this works out and look into the 300 kit.

Are the only people that make a full system for the 09 Big Gun, and FMF? And if any one can give links to the cheapest place to buy them it would be great. Thanks for your help guys
