New 2014 Ninja (possibly) with KLX250 engine

The torque to weight ratio means that it will probably be nicer to ride than the 2-pot version:
"Kawasaki claims 27.6 hp at 9700 rpm and 16.7 ft-lb. at 8200 rpm from the 250SL, compared to the Twin’s 31.5 hp at 11000 rpm and 15.5 ft-lb at 10000 rpm. The RR Mono also has a claimed weight of 332.9 pounds compared to the Ninja 250′s claimed weight of 379.2 pounds"
Cannot understand why it weighs more than the KLX though. Lightweight alloy wheels, shorter suspension, lighter tyres but bigger brakes. Why is it so porky?

The 300 Ninja weighs about exactly the same as the 250 Ninja twin. Again...I see little to get excited about the old twin or the this warmed over 250 single. At $4999 U.S., the 300 Ninja is worth the huge performance advantage IMO.
Now, I do see the passing interest of KLX owners in being curious about the similarities between the two engines and such. Still, any possible parts interchange won't mean much to those in the U.S. and many other countries since it looks like none of that will be available.
