I don't know...and we really won't know unless we see one tested and probably also dyno'd, but I'm going to suspect that the powerband won't be ideal for off road use. Still, just speculation on my part. This would be fine for a street bike but maybe not so hot for a low, fat powerband dirt bike.

And if I was a street guy, I wouldn't waste time nor money on this bike. I'd go straight to a Ninja 300 which will blister the paint off this redone dinosaur.

The Ninja 300cc is indeed awesome, but this Ninja SL weighs less and is cheaper. More like a rival to Hondas CBR250, (Which shares engine with the CRF250L). Might work well in the Asian market.

Anyone see some of the internet videos of drag races between the CBR250 vs. the Ninja 300? It's embaressing.

Probably better cams and head as you said, higher than 11-1 compression?, not likely.

You don't think they would push it up to 12:1? You can run 11:1 on 87 even though they say it needs 91..

I would think they would be pushing it at 12, most people would always run regular, not sure what they run in other countries but detonation and pinging would and could cause damage. The timing would have to be further retarded. At least this is the case with any car engine, and this, technically is just a smaller version. But i could be wrong...

Perhaps Kawa is using an advanced swirl and tumble design. They are always finding new ways to get gasoline to burn rather than explode in a high compression engine through port/valve/combustion chamber design.

The USA models are carbed. The FI bikes have the fuel light. Maybe when they start shipping bikes with FI to the states we will get the fuel light.
