Default new 09 with 65 miles?

I went by the kawi dealer tonight and they have a red 09 now. I had already looked at the green one they have. The red one has 65 miles on the odometer. Is it just me or is this pretty unusual to have 65 miles on a NEW bike. If I pay five grand for a new bike I want to be the one to put the first 65 miles on it! The power news article posted here a while back says that the best opportunity to get the rings to seal really good is the first 20 miles. Any thoughts? Thanks.

it was most likely used as a demo model. make them take a few hundred off or pony up a free extended warranty.

I would say that is unusual, but not unheard of. The first shop I looked at for my KTM had one, but it had 1.5 hours on the hour meter and the pipe was blued. The salesman said the owner of the shop just rode it around the parking lot. Looked like it had been off-road to me, based on the dirt on the knobbies. You could tell, they tried to clean it off, but it's hard to get it back to show-room clean. It was probably fine, but I passed and got one somewhere else with 0 time on the meter.

It the miles don't bother you, like lcpl said, just use that as a way to get a better price. But I definitely wouldn't pay "new" price for it. 65 miles is not new.

+1
it is no longer a "new" bike. sure, they'll say "but it has never been titled"- well, big deal. It's still been used for 65 miles and therefore not new. The break-in stuff don't worry about as that's all just a bunch of people's opinions. But I bought my red '09 for $200 under msrp and it had 1 mile on the odometer. Find yourself a different bike or offer them a price $500 under msrp and then if they take it, you're doing good cuz this bike is extremely hard to get right now anywhere. So in a way, you may be w/o a bike if you pass on this one for an absolutely brand new one. comes down to how **** and ocd you are about miles. When I bought my new second Fusion last year, I told the dealer to leave the factory applied sticky plastic over the carpet. Makes me feel better that it isn't getting dirty and soothes my ocd personality. Oh, and I wanted to see my bike going down the interstate on the flatbed in the crate. Yeah, I'm sick about things like that. Deej; he's the same way I'm pretty sure.

I bought my 07 as a demo bike, had 40km's on the clock and $500 of the retail price. So 65 miles definitely deserves a reduction in price.
