Default Needles pic

Can anyone direct me to a photo of the OEM carb needle next to the N1TC? I am sure I saw one posted somewhere in my reading here over the last few days, but I cannot locate it again. Anyone know where its hiding?

I couldn't find it, so I took my own and here it is. OEM is left and N1TC right.

And here is the difference in needle depth when installed. Again OEM left and N1TC right.

I think they are about the same thickness and taper. Its just that with the N1TC its sits alot higher. I doubt the needle even sets down in the main jet like its supposed to, which means fuel is always going through the main jet which I believe is why I was getting such poor fuel mileage. I put the stock needle back in with a small shim, haven't had a chance to check mileage yet.

This has come up before, and yes the KLX300 needle is basically shorter. Still, most folks who use it do so with good results. I'm much more a fan of the DJ needle that comes with that KLX300 kit...forget the number. I'm curious...did you check down in the slide needle seat down in that hole the needle sets in to make sure there weren't any washers hiding down in there from a previous mod? I couldn't remember if you bought your bike new or used.

I'm one who is running the N1TC needle. Through my modifications so far, I've never noted any significant change in mileage from bone stock - mine is one of the bikes that has always turned in relatively low mileage, even off the showroom floor. On the highway 60-70 mph indicated (using the stock odometer, so ~6% optimistic) I get between 50-55 mpg typically. Moderate trail riding not much different. Aggressive trail riding, maybe down to 45 mpg or so.

2009 U.S. model KLX250S, 14/42 gearing, full OEM KLX300 exhaust minus buttplug, stock CVK carb with 122/N1TC/35 jetting, airbox snorkle removed. I think I set the needle to the 2nd position, but it may be the top position.

Interesting.... id like to see the DJ needle next to the N1TC needle.... should have done that in CO when we both rejetted our bikes.

I have the N1TC needle, and adjusted it yesterday.
