I was wondering JUST how long it would be before the first "RUN FASTER TO OUTRUN THE NOISE" comment would take to log onto the forum. It took a bit longer than I predicted.

Of course I can't get further forward nor outrun the noise. It's bordering on enduring pain! [:@]

BADBEAR has probably hit the right suggestion with his Quiet Core. I looked on the net and found that Big Gun makes two sizes. a 15" & a 17" core. Priced at about $49. Do we have a source for a supplier other than full MSR?

Apparently, I was sold the Race Core model.

 

The reason I asked was because I found it to be deafeningly loud when I removed my airbox lid...
To me, it seemed like the noise was directly proportional to the size of the airbox opening. Full lid was quiet, no lid was LOUD.
I went for somewhere in between and chopped a large hole in my lid.
