need some new gear recommendations

I stick to a regular street helmet because I don't like the lift I get from the visor on the DS helmet. Every one I've tried has lift, so I gave up on it.
Boots... I used to use Sidi Adventure boots for my serious off-road stuff, but I've read too much about the various injuries you can get from inadequate boots. Those are now commute/very light DS boots, and I got a set of Sidi Crossfire 2's. Now if they'd just break in enough so I could actually shift without having the shift lever way too high, I'd be happy!
For body armor I use a Fox Titan armor jacket with a jersey over it, Klim pants with EVS knee braces under them (the pants barely fit over them; wish I'd gotten one size bigger). I still want a Leatt neck brace, but that's another $300 I don't have right now.

Boots
I've been using SIDI Discovery Rain Boots for the last couple of years. They're advertised as being "water resistant", but I've immersed mine pretty thoroughly a couple of times, plus been in a heavy, but brief downpours without a bit of moisture getting through to my feet. Reasonably lightweight and comfortable, and ok for a couple of blocks hike. They are not hard core moto cross boots.

I also have a Fly Trekker DS helmet and I like it. For $125 it is a pretty good deal. It fits well, has good ventilation and has minimal wind lift (IMO). The only drawback is that it is a bit heavy in comparison to others.
I'd strongly consider getting another one once the time comes.

ding, ding, ding. winner, winner, chicken dinner !!!
boy, i was thinking right over the simplest solution
these stay in the wagon hatch just awaiting some action
water sandals, they pack down to just about nothing.
i wouldnt hike the AT in them, but perfect for light exploring
now i can lean more toward a more protective boot, THANKS !!!

i tried on several pairs of boots last WE without any success.
im going to find someone that has the AS scout in stock to try.
i think it might be just about what i want, also near my budget

i actually had a new pair of glasses made just for MC use
almost GI-issue heavy plastic frame, and medium brown tint lenses
the brown tint really POPS the contrast, especially in shadows
for anyone wearing glasses-
i ordered 2 pair from eyebuydirectdotcom, they have some great deals
2 pair of prescription frames, both tinted and scratch coated
$50 shipped to my door in about 2 weeks.
i read plenty of complaints, but both of mine were perfect
again, that was 2 complete pair of perscrip sunglasses for $50
