Default in need of some advice

Hi, I've installed my new full big gun exhaust i rode the bike to see how it ran, it ran crap seemed real gutless in the mid range and backfired.
So i desided to put the DJ kit in however once i had the carby off and apart it already had a 38 and a 132 needle and f/a screw set at 2 3/4 turns. I went ahead and changed the needle to the dj and set it at 3rd groove and drilled the hole out. Should i change the 132 main with the dj 132 and set the f/a at 2 1/2 turns? btw i have a 300 kit in the bike.

Yeah. Another Aussie.
Don't forget to lose the air box lid.
BTW the #132 is the stock jet we get down here. If you want some extra juice go the #135 or #138 main. Stock pilot is a #35 so someone has already upped it to a #38.
On reason not to buy a DJ kit if you have an AUS spec bike. The largest main jet in the kit is the same as the stock keihin, a #132.

Yeah they must of played with the settings when the 300 kit was put in from new cause the f/a cover was already drilled out as well. Air box lid's sitting on the garage floor.
Cool i'll pick my self up a #135 and #138 and give the #135 a go first, but not this weekend couldnt be stuffed. I might also take the emission stuff off as well next time.

Hey foambullets, welcome to the forum....where did you come up with that name. lol

Do not focus on your initial main jet settings when jetting that pos carb. The main only effect 3/4 or higher to wot...unless it is really off.

Based upon what you are posting your needle is not set right, I don't care if its a dynojet needle or an ntc1. You got sumthin set wrong...spacer on the wrong side of the clip for example.....I hate to say this but take it apart and check everything and re-read dyno's instructions...your needle is off.

Oh btw....been there done that..lol...annoying as heck.

Foambullets is my old battlefield name (bullets seem not to kill just bounce off people like kids play guns ) that ive just stuck with so i dont forget.
Anyway the bike was running crap before i put the dj kit in. I just took it for a spin and it seems great however has the common pop from the exhaust when backing off tho.

Good stuff on the name, glad its running better now. Now you can tweek your main....you know chop blocks to check you plug for color.....or whatever you aussies call it.....fine tuning is much more fun.

btw before I got a fcr...I had a 38 pilot jet....I liked it with the ntc1 on the second clip and a 130 main.....but you guys get different bikes than us Yanks.

Not true. The bike comes like that stock. No cover on the FA screw when I got mine new. The laws in Australia focus on keeping your bikes exhaust quiet as opposed to the laws in the USA, keeping your bike exhaust clean, especially California.
Did the slide have the holes filled when you had a look? (They drill holes in the Aussie models slide to reduce slide lift and as a consequence reduce the exhaust noise.)
Did you remove the black rubber restrictor that lives in the middle of the crankcase breather hose? (The grey hose from the airbox to the crankcase.)
Confused?? What emission stuff do you have on your bike. From new mine had none. Are you talking about the carb' de-ice circuit?

Actually speaking I got needle problems too.. What side of the clip do they spacers come on? On the upper side right? Because if it it on the under it would raise the needle right?

The reason why i think it has been played with is that one of the screws on the bottom of the carb was stripped (not by me) and there was a finger print on the inside of the diapham for the slide. I didnt see any holes in the slide and i have not removed the restrictor in the breather (didnt know it was there).
