Need License Plate Holder For KLX 250
Hi guys. I just picked up a 2006 KLX 250. The previous owner used it for trail riding off-road only and so it doesn't have a plate holder. I just got my plate, now I just need a spot to put it.
I did some searching, and saw one person mention the Acerbis 2082600001 Dual Sport Black Tail Light. I found it on Amazon, but the product ratings say how cheaply made it is.
Do you guys have any other recommendations besides that one? I like the more minimal look of the Acerbis compared to the stock setup.
Thanks!

Hmmm , back in the day when I used to ride enduros we used to just sort of wrap the license plate around the fender and bolt it on withe some plastic nuts and bolts . Legal , I dunno ? The thought at the time was that the plate being close to the fender was less likely to inflict some kind of injury in a get off . There's lots of tail tidies on the web but most involve removing your rear fender and exposing your wiring to dirt/mud . My solution was to just cut the ( rediculously ! ) long rear fender and shaping it to a nice curve .

The plate setup is an inner fender that most usually take off. My KLX650 had the same rear fender setup. Like all others, I took off the inner fender and hung my plate off the remaining main fender. I didn't have any good experience trying to use a metal plate. The bouncing of the bike would fatigue the metal at the bend and break off. I made a rubber flap to hang the plate at the end of the fender, works great unless the plate hits the tire on some bump, then it can bend it up a bit. Now I think I'd probably just attach it to the fender like others here have, or maybe get some similar plastic to extend the fender back a bit with the plate on the extension... but probably bolt it on the fender.

Do you mean the inside of the fender, or did you have an additional piece that was the inner fender? It looks like stock, it would have had an extra black piece that extended down from under the main fender. Mine doesn't have that so I'm looking for another way.

Someone mentioned this bracket from Moose. Maybe I can mount this to the top side of the fender right next to the tail light:

Thanks for the visual, that helps. I will be doing more off road riding with mine so I think the plate would end up covered in mud/dirt if I put it there. It looks great though!

For fourteen bucks and the way the early KLX fender is shaped, I'd do that bracket. Might have to get one for my 650 after I do the engine. It wouldn't work on the 2009 and up goofy two piece fender deal, but would work well on the older fender for sure. You could look up some small license plate light, but I wouldn't really bother unless you ride a lot after dark. My 650 plate hanging on the flap doesn't have a plate light, but they're reflective anyway, so I never did it and don't ride that much at night.
