Make sure you can get the tires you want with the rims you get ! !!!!

.... and why does that kawa have a Husq emblem, get that out of here!!!

Which set of rims did you go with? Do you remember the brand and the cost? I was thinking of going with the spoked one's but this would be so much better especially with the tubeless tires !!
I went with warp 9 forged wheels. May not be available for the klx but i bought them when they were first released two years ago. Around $1800 but you can get spoked wheels for half that.

Jim should be able to lace you up a set of 17's on stock Klx hubs with tires of your choice. If you use stock rotor sizes wheel swapping will be quick and easy.

It would, but tire choices would really be slim pickin's

Yes, I was saying get the hubs if you can find a cheap set, then lace up the rims. Woody's or Buchanon's can supply spokes and rims or they can do the whole shooting match. The rims ain't cheap at around $200 each unless you find a deal, spokes are around $100 a set, then there is the cost to get hubs... now you see why you should look around for someone selling off the supermoto rims.

I actually have a set of Suzuki GS500 wheels (17s) I got to do my 650. There had to be some machining. I was trying to make a set of "roll in" wheels and it was too hard. Now I may go to them - or not - since I'm going to make the 650 full on supermoto and have the 250 for the rest. I snagged a 4.25-17 rim for around $120 on ebay about six years back, and need to get a front wheel, although I may lace up the 17 from the back of the 650 if I don't do the GS wheels. I had a second set of hubs for it that I was going to do for the roll-in wheels, but never did the job after getting the 250.

Quick question about suspension and shock as well:
Is it worth going the route of making adjustments and tightening the suspension up for supermoto? Or its never going to be great and I should go the route of racetech gold valves? Reminder again that I have never done supermoto but still a bouncy suspension should be no no ....

I had a Harley wheel that was factory sealed like this. It works but when it comes to spokes I rather just use a tube. The sealer seems short lived.

They do make tubeless 17's with spokes. There is a inner rim so the spokes don't enter the air space.

Thanks for the picture update. You know I thought that was a kawa, but I guess not under close observation. But their engines look remarkably similar, if it wasn't for the header, it would be almost impossible to differentiate from here.

Re: suspension.... I wouldn't overspring the bike, just set it up for dirt & ride it. If you set it up for street, it is going to be very harsh on the trail. I guess it would be ok like that for Tomac.

Yah they are similar with the dohc engines. Similar until you twist the throttle anyways. Lol

I didn't do anything to my suspension when I built the husky. It of course has quite a bit of dive when hard braking but nothing unsafe that you can't get use to.
