Need help for supermoto build
Hi All
Hello !! . Im new to the forum - just got me a 2012 KLX25S. My goal is to be able to do 50% supermoto, 25% street and 25% dirt. I dont ride much dirt but once in a while I would be able to like to switch it back to the dirt wheels so I can take my daughter dirt biking. Also, I have never done supermoto so I dont need anything fancy for now. I have read up on as much as a I could in the forum and think I have some understanding of the setup but I need some answers/confirmation about the wheels . So here goes:
As i understand, only Excel makes a hub for the front wheel. All the other manufacturers (Warp9, Dubya) use hubs for the KXF250 which is not a direct fit. So if I want to use a KXF250 hub from Warp9, do I need the following:
1. I need to get a Vapor Gauge for the speedometer (since KXF hub does not have the notches for KLX speedometer). Dont mind swapping to Vapor since I have read it is better anyway .
2. The axle rod of the KLX seems much smaller than the KXF. Do I need a KXF axle rod and will it fit on the KLX?
3. Any issues fitting the brake rotor? I have the 320mm EBC with a adapter for the caliper.
4. Is the rear wheel the same for KXF and KLX? Is it a direct swap or do I need some parts for that as well?
On another note, I could just get SF wheels but I havent seen any available anywhere.
I also plan to get some racetech gold valves so I can stiffen up the suspension for street/supermoto but still ride it on dirt if I have to. Any suggestions?

Saw a couple of people that used Ninja 250 wheels online somewhere. As I recall the axles are the same size and the KLX but there was some mucking about to do with the brakes (front disk is on the opposite side, rotor size and spacing etc)

Which set of rims did you go with? Do you remember the brand and the cost? I was thinking of going with the spoked one's but this would be so much better especially with the tubeless tires !!

Looks like it requires some serious mucking around with the stock setup but I want to be able to switch back to dirt so dont think this would be a good option for me. Interesting idea though .

If you are willing to do a Vapor speedo/tach set up you can simply get any KLX250/300 wheel set, lace up the proper 17s and get the rotor/carrier kit for the front brake, make it two rotors so you can have the same rotor size on both sets of wheels and you can make a set of wheels. If you can get a set of 09 up then you can run the stock rotor.
Easiest yet is to keep an eye out here and on ebay for a set of SF wheels, they show up here every couple months. Look in the for sale stuff and see if any that were posted are still available. Here is the most recent set.

The SF wheels are 17"? Will keep an eye out for them?
