Thanks Landon, I've looked into the IMS option that keeps the stock shrouds, seems like a viable option besides the acrebis. I believe the 09 will bring lots of fun, the owner of the 06 seemed a little upset that I cancelled our time to meet and look at each others bikes, I do feel bad for that, but I think the 09 made more sense on a straight trade.

So I'll be driving up to South Carolina in 2 weeks to look at and trade for the 09 if all looks well! I can't wait, going to be a long 2 weeks!

If you are going to do any off-road with it, change out that front tire. That is the most likely reason why the shroud is broke. The less wheel travel really doesn’t affect me. I have yet to bottom the front and I have tried. No, I don’t do large jumps but I do get some air and hit some fairly square edges at times. I took a tie-wrap and put in on the lower leg, went for a ride and the tire wrap was still about 1-2 inches from bottoming out. I have bottom the rear out. But it has a nice bump stop so it isn’t too bad. If you do find the need to, there are after marked springs and re-valves. The 09 has compression clickers on the forks but no rebound or air bleeder like the older models. The Shock has both compression and rebound on all years.

This is just my theory....since the 09 has less rear wheel travel but uses the same shock and spring rate (correct me if I am wrong), that equals to a stiffer suspension then the older models.

Thanks man, I will be changing the front tire to a Pirelli XCMH as soon as I get it, then when the back wears, another d606 or a shinko 244(have them on my dr200se and like them) will go on. He caught the shroud on a tree and it snapped.

Seems strange they didn't add air bleeders on the forks? I will be revalving and springing the bike to my weight later, for now I'm just going to enjoy it

Thanks for all your replies and help!

I bottomed out forks before installing gold valves, even with stiffer springs, riding through the whoops.

Haven't bottomed them out since valving.

Been there, done that ....................a few times
These shrouds stick out quite a bit.

Hope all works out well with the trade.

Thanks Dan, I think it'll work out fine, if it doesn't then it just wasn't meant to be with that klx but I will have one. The guy I'm trading with seems like a good guy so I think it'll be good.

I'm ready to start farkeling the bike to get it personalized and to get back to the trails which I've been missing more than I thought I would.
