Stock From mudjunkie

From mudjunkie--Stock Bar Measurements--2006 KLX250S
Here's what I measured on the stock bars (to the best I could with measuring tape and a level)

width (tip to tip) was 785mm
height (from bottom of bar at clamp to bottom of bar at outside end of grip--vertical height) was 50mm
rise (length of slope between clamp area and where bend starts for grip area) was 35mm
clamp area (length of straight bar in clamp area) was 150mm (clamps are 110 outside to outside)
sweep (the amount of bend in the grips towards the rear of the bike) was 90mm

I don't know how accurate this was, but I used this info when sourcing out an appropriate bar for what I wanted to achieve.

Now my question is what is the best or strongest handlebar? I want something that can take a beating.

-I read that tusk is $27.99, but some people have bent theirs and are on their second set.
-Moose is sometimes hard to install.
--Pro-Taper is excellent quality and can take many beatings without bending.

DOES ANYONE AGREE WITH THIS?

I had a bad fall 2 days ago that completely bent my handlebars, broke my left mirror, and i sprained my foot really bad.

I just replaced my bars for the second time with a set of jimmy button renthal bars, they sit an inch or so higher which is welcome. The local shop claims pro-taper will replace any of the fat bar range free of charge if you bend them...so if you want a garuantee i would go for them.

I looped my bike over myself and it fell on the handlebars from about 10 foot(near vertical climb and the bike slowed and fell backward past the balance point) then onto me, and it bent my old RDX bars (look indentical to renthal) about an inch down and 2 inches back...I am hoping a geniune renthal bar will be stronger..but also hoping i dont try to catch my bike with my nuts from a 10 foot drop again.

replacing a set of bars takes about 15 minutes, i take about half an hour because i have barkbuster gaurds.

Renthal Twinwall is the strongest, but the $$$ cost puts some off.

Nice research here and well timed. I just placed an order for Tusk CR Mid bend, D-flex handguards, grip heater kit, and pro-taper pillow top grips.

I just bought Pro-Tapers CR-Hi SE bars with Moose contour Bark busters. Also bought some nice bar-risers from Pit-Posse that come with spacers and different length bolts so the height can be adjusted.

I would LOVE to put Twinwalls on. Any one know of a clamp kit?

Twinwalls were the best move for me - I bent a few sets of bars before getting the Twinwalls, and haven't needed any other bars since. And that is in spite of a few big crashes that I expected would bend the bars!

I used the Tusk Universal Big Bar Clamp Kit from Rocky Mountain ATV for $35: Tusk Universal Big Bar Clamp Kit | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC
