I have been wanting an enduro style bike for awhile now and found a guy that wants to trade a 2007 KLX250 with 6000km on it to my 2004 Honda Rancher 350 that is in great shape. What I would like to know is...is this a good bike? He says it runs perfect and it looks good. Is that a lot of miles for the KLX. Does this bike perform well? I would be riding it to work and trail riding also. Please give any advice and can anyone tell me what that bike is worth?

 

You do understand that this is a "PRO" KLX250 forum? Expect lots of positive reviews.

 

if it has been jetted with exhaust, should be a decent commute and trail riding bike...it's the little engine that could...

There are only two slight issues with the KLX250s. Sometimes it is hard to start when cold, and some people are disappointed with the stock power. Both issues are fixable and covered extensively here on the forum. This forum is the one bonus you will get with the KLX. I don't think this forum can be beat for answers or atmosphere. If you have trouble, you will get help here.
The KLX is pretty good at everything but not great at anything. Service intervals are long, and the engine is bullet proof. I don't know anything about the 4 wheeler you are looking at but that's what I can tell you about the bike. One other thing , it's a 250, trails and commuting are great, highway not so great.

thanks dan, i don't plan to take it on the highway, top speed limit is 55 but would like to be able to move with traffic, if it would do 60-65 without winding it would be fine. I currently own the four wheeler but would trade it even to the bike. I only have about $2000 in the four wheeler. Would it be a good trade to the 07 KLX250 with 6000km on it?

 

if you don't mind me asking eddie how much did you pay for it? can you keep up with traffic in 55mph zones?

 

This here is a modern DOHC engine that is well built. It can be run @ high rpms without any problems, so if you have to rev it, let it go. It is quite capable of running 65 mph under most conditions, only big hills will be an issue that will require higher rpms.
