My other Kawasaki - it's just for looking at.
I bought this off the showroom in '04 when they announced they wouldn't make em anymore. I put about about 15 hours on it, pickled it, and put it on display. We just look at it... kinda like dinosaur bones.

Nothing dinosaur about that bike. There's a great thread over in the Rockies forum on ADV where one of the regular inmates has one, and compares it favorably to his two KTM's. Unlike the Honda CR500, the KX had a usable powerband for trail use also. I've seen guys put a flywheel kit on those to make it even more trail worthy. Good bike.

Thanks TNC, I'll mosey over there an take a gander.. It is ashamed that you can't kick your leg over that much power in a 227 lb machine anymore.

Plus, Service Honda thinks enough about the KX500 that they make one of their trick versions using the KX motor.

Those "service" bikes are nice, But, for the money, I'd rather get ATK to build me an Intimidator 700. I've always lusted after that 700cc two smoke..

I don’t think ATK is in business anymore.... Too bad.
They tried to save the Cannondale bikes but they just couldn’t make it. They also tried to import some Chinese stuff but that fell through. I liked the original ATK’s from the 80’s-90’s

When Cannondale filed bankruptcy you could get a brand new 440 for $2500 at my local dealer. I wanted it bad, just couldn’t afford it then. I think that was around 2002. They were state of the art bikes, fuel injected back then too.
