My new (TALL) street gearing.
Decided to give 15/39 a try on my 2006. Well, it's definitely tall, but I tend to like very tall gearing. At 61 mph on my speedo, my RPM's are right at 5,000 !!! Perfect. At 71 mph, right at 6,000. No power whatsoever, but cruises very smoothly now, down hill of course !!! I've got another bike with some get-up-N-go, so I don't mind this one being down on excelleration so much...

leave the guy be, if he bakes, then i must be a pastery chef, cus i bake all day long.
back to the post now, good to hear you like the set up. ive been thinking of going to a 15, im always reaching for 7th. ill probally keep stock gearing for around town, and trail riding, and a 15 for long trips on the freeway.

Unfortunatly, my last bike's regular maintenance schedule (crf) called for valves to be adjusted almost as often as changing the oil so high rpm's on my motor now makes me nervous. Once I'm satisfied that my klx valves are sturdy, I'll probably start running some shorter gearing too...

God I iimagine you do nothing but streets and maybe some fire roads... I couldn't imagine riding ANY trails with gearing like that. I've got a 47-tooth rear (14/47) and I wish I'd gotten the 48 tooth... and I still contemplate putting that godforsaken 13-tooth on the front. This bike is so gutless I need all the RPMs out of it I can squeak.
