My First Ride report. Bonavista Trailway
Well I decided to take a run down the Bonavista Branch Railway. Nuttin' better to be at today. Left from Bar Bridge (Random Island causeway) around 2:30 this afternoon. Trail is in good shape to Lethbridge compared to couple years ago. It was really growed in before but now it is excellent. Few yes-mam's but I like them! Well except for the puddles in between. I like to try and keep my feet dry.
Total distance on track was 44 km. My average speed was 33.5 km/h!!! Needless to say the track got worse after Lethbridge. Also I'm just starting to get used to this trail riding stuff.
Anyway, after Lethbridge things get interesting. I'm riding along all be me lonesome takin' her easy. Don't wanna get in trouble or anything. When along comes this gert big water puddle. I stop and size it up. Do I turn around or keep going?
Hmmmm....well it's only forty feet long and trains went through here. Can't be that bad!!!! With that logic in mind I proceed onwards.
Okay for the record I really haven't done any deep water crossings. Man this puddle was deeper than I thought. Water over my ankles!!! So much for keeping my feet dry.
But I made it thru without incident. Heres a pic after I crossed. Sure wish I had someone there to take one of me going thru.
After this one there are several more. And of course none of them are clear enough to see whats in them. God I hate that.
One also has to be on the lookout for rotten bridges and washouts of which there are a few.
Then the Trail starts to get growed in. Now I know why people take their mirrors off for trail riding. Alders were constantly trying to help me steer!!! And of course riding in that centre hump is impossible.
Heading back home (on pavement) took a little offroad excursion near Lethbridge. around 15 km one way. Good going but I imagine could be quite slick when wet. Road was that clay stuff that turns to seal snot when wet.
Will have to return later on to do more exploring of that area.
All in all - a good day. Gained some good experience and had a blast.

Good stuff there relic , if I had crossed a puddle like that I would have been up to my waist in water after getting about one third of the way across . Looks like a great spot to ride. Thanks for posting.

Awesome shot of the lake you crossed
Yikes I would be afraid of falling into a big hole in the middle. Slow and carefully wins the race..
I took the KLX out for a joy ride this morning Dry dry dry here in Cali.
Then This evening I took the F800GS out by some orange trees (It smells great riding through the citrus trees). They were watering the trees earlier today and it was kinda muddy. Just a thin layer of mud on the ground as the tress are planted in a concave pan around so that they pool up and get most of the water. Anyways, I have the stock tires on both bikes. The GS is much more road biased with Michelin Ankes and they were slipping and sliding everywhere. That is a big bike and a bit intmidating still. But I did not drop the bike. Horray!
After making it through I thought, hey lets do that agian, that was good practice
Sound like the both had a blast.
Thanks for the report.

Are you sitting down? Good. No. I really don't wash my bike that often.
Hope this don't mean we're not friends anymore.
