Default My big magnetic tank bag

I bought this bag for my new (not here yet) ninja 500. Its a Cortech Super 14. It is a great fit for the flat tank of the 500 and dimensional about perfect.

I wanted to try it on the KLX for fun and damn if it is not handy. It is too big for the magnets in the back to work as they lay over the plastic.

However. A couple of months ago at Lowes I bought these over grown twist ties that were Kawi Green. I figured one day I would find a use for them.

There are a couple of rings on the bag on each side and the twist ties are holding it to the bike in the back.

Its actually super stable. I would not run this off road. I would and still may get an Wolfman bag. However this is nice as I can carry gym clothes/shoes in it and not have to carry a back pack. Its super easy to remove since its just twist ties. For refilling I undid one tie and rotated the bag onto the seat.

I may just keep using it.

does the magnet stick to any part of the tank?...for highway stability, i don't like to have bags loaded on the tail...been looking at bag solution for the gas tank, but most have been too small for practical use...

Yes the front magnets are very solid on the tank. The twist ties on the rear are also much more solid than you might think.

I had zero movement on the highway with it. It is wide enough that my inner legs just brush it but it is in no way in the way of me or the steering. The Handle on the front of the bag touches front steerer but since the handle moves in several inches it is not issue either.

There may be other bags that work as well but I am surprise how well this contraption works.

I should mention that I like this bag since it is as good to carry off the bike as it is on the bike. The larger rubber handle is great and the back pack straps are connected to the bag and all you have to do is attach the bottom. Great for a long time off the bike.

I just order the Cycle Case Compact GPS bag for my tank. I will let you know how it works once it comes in. I wanted to be able to have some storage, but also be able to have access to my phone for gps, music and phone calls.

Recently on my last 150 mile trip, I decided to take the tank bag off the KLX and put it on the St 1300, and I love the smaller size! The bigger one I got for the Honda was just too bulky and unless you kept it completely full it would sag real bad and look stupid. I am completely sold on the smaller tank bag. Mine is the Cortech 10 I think. Look at the difference, and the best thing about the smaller bag is that when I turn the bars in a parking lot the smaller bag doesn't honk the horn or lower the windshield.

Smaller is better......that's gonna come back to bite me.....LOL

Larger tank bag, I think its a bell bag from Walmart, never liked it.

Oh and as far as off road, I take the smaller bag on all of my off road rides and with the front strap and a couple of the magnets holding I have never had it fall to the side, I mean it moves slightly but even on the rough off roads and trails in Central Oregon it stayed put.

The Cortech bag is a nice bag. Mine is a little bigger than yours but the Ninja 500 has a rather flat and broad tank. The Ninja guys recommend this size. Mine is 14L and yours is the 10L.

Nice bags.
