I spent twice that on descent helmet, googles, boots and other ridign gear. I still have my priorities. Staying in 1 piece is still top of my list.

Arai XD is a good choice (but expensive, that's why I don't have one yet). I tend to wear my Arai Signet fullface more than anything else (I also have Schuberth C1 I wear from time to time). If I'm going to be mostly offroad and it's warm to hot outside, I'll wear the MX style KBC I have.

RE: Muffler Search
With this bike really looking like a dirt bike with blinkers, I opted for the Motocross full face, and goggles. I think it would look funny with a street helmet, just like a MX helmet would look funny with a street bike. I did just pick up a pair of Bobster ridding glasses with 3 sets of lenses, clean-amber-dark lenses. If it's really cold, or I'm going to be following someone on the trails, I'll wear the Goggles.
I have the Vega helmet that matches my bike..........oh man!! does that mean women aren't the only ones that accessorize? LOL. Plus the helmet was free with the bike. I bought a second one the same color that just happens to fit my wife and my 9 year old son....2 for the price of one.

Planet KLX is a KLX 300 site but has some good tips on free mods that apparently many people have been using for the KLX 250. Here is another link for those of you who may be unfamiliar with the website.

RE: Muffler Search
just wondering if there is anybody out there who has tried this system. I am sick of waiting on a muzzy.

RE: Muffler Search
If you don't care about noise and want a high-performance system I recommend the Four Stroke Works header and muffler. It made an amazing difference on my bike, but it is loud, REALLY LOUD! I had to rejet to 128 main and 38 pilot and later installed the Dynojet neddle. I had to made a small dent in the underside of the header to clear one of the oil lines aft of the cyllinder, but that wasn't a big deal. I just used a hammer and tapped away till I had a good fit. This system is desinged for the KLX 300 and I guess that bike has the oil lines routed a bit differently. The full system was about $500 if I remember correctly. FYI, my gas mileage dropped by about 25% with this system, but that's not an issue for my riding style. Jerry Leighton at FSW will answer your quesionts and was very helpful when I called him.
