Which Muffler?
#11
Hey RugBug,
Don't get me wrong, I DO understand the cost factor, but I hope you don't shoot yourself in the foot looking at the bargain mufflers... I know the FMF Q4 is expensive but if you search the posts about aftermarket exhausts, many, many people complain about the bargain exhaust being too noisy. For some, even the Q4 is louder than they like but it seems to be the quietest performance muffler out there...
You may be onto something with the KLX300 muffler, I never tried because they are getting so hard to find!
Good luck!

I guess I should add, since I know you are following the MCM thread, that the MCM changes the exhaust tone of the bike. Prior to the MCM, the Q4 had a pretty sharp edge to the exhaust tone... it is much smoother and seemingly quieter with the MCM???
Don't ask me why... I am just reporting what I have found/heard!

I'm probably just going to run the 300 exhaust. It will fit like stock and last forever. With the Hindle it would give me more options and even would allow the use of mufflers from other bikes as long as the inlet is 2" a the body is between 12 and 16". I did find a cheap Chinese muffler for around $100 that did catch my attention. It came with a db killer.
